We are thankful to Dr. Harvey Renger, Jr. of Mule Spring Angus Farm who introduced us to Angus cattle and enabled us to get started in the Angus business by selling a portion of his registered Angus cow herd to us in 1991. Mule Spring Angus Farm dates back to 1947. After purchasing the cattle in 1991, we decided to purchase two herd bulls from Baldridge Angus in Nebraska. The bloodlines of the two bulls were as follows: one a grandson of Qas 23-4 and one a son of Tehamo Bando. These two bulls helped build the early foundation of our female herd along with AI breeding annually to update the genetics. Our goals are to produce easy fleshing, deep bodied, great milking ability, low birth weight, with growth and good carcass trait cattle. The calves born September thru January are our Fall Calving crop and January thru March our Spring Calving crop. |
| Currently we have 400 Angus females. AI and embryo transfer are a part of our genetic improvement process. Also we have 40 Registered angus cows that are bred to Registered Gray Brahman bulls to produce the Golden Certified Replacement F1 Brangus heifer. We pride ourselves in producing top of the line Angus genetics and are always striving to improve. |
| The use of the American Angus Association's Angus Herd Improvement Records are a very beneficial tool. EPD’s are a very important part of our operation along with visual appraisal. We sell Registered black Angus breeding age herd bulls that are fertility tested and Registered black Angus heifers annually. We are an active participant in the Lone Star Angus Alliance's female sale the fourth Saturday in April annually and the bull sale the first Friday in December annually both held at the J Bar Angus sale site. Look on the LSAA page for more sale information. Come to Hallettsville and stop by and visit J Bar Angus where you’ll find top of the line Angus genetics. |
